A little bit about our history
Founded in 1953, Lawson Brown High School, has grown from the initial 109 grade eight pupils and 4 members of staff, to a current pupil population of 851 with 42 staff. The slogan that best describes the reality of our time of existence, 60 years of excellence, is the foundation on which all activity during this year of celebration is built. At our Founder’s Day Assembly we looked back at the past 60 years, celebrating what this institution represents.

Our School Song
On the hillside stands the Lawson Brown
Overlooking North End and the town
There below her lies Algoa Bay
Where the ships sail on their way
Pull together, play the game
That's the way to bring us fame
Drawing honour to our name
Come, O come and sing of Lawson Brown
On the sports field and in all our work,
Truth and honour we will never shirk.
Scarlet, gold and black our colours proud,
Let us sing our motto loud:
Per ardua ad astra, per ardua ad astra.
Through hard work to the stars!
Come, O come and sing of Lawson Brown.
