Founded in 1953, Lawson Brown High School, has grown from the initial 109 grade eight pupils and 4 members of staff, to a current pupil population of 851 with 42 staff. The slogan that best describes the reality of our time of existence, 60 years of excellence, is the foundation on which all activity during this year of celebration is built. At our Founder’s Day Assembly we looked back at the past 60 years, celebrating what this institution represents.
Our mission statement clearly states:
“At Lawson Brown High School we strive to be an effective school, providing education in a happy, but controlled environment where learners are guided towards an awareness and realization of their human potential in academic, service, sporting, cultural and religious fields. We are dedicated to a healthy work ethic, optimum participation, commitment, accountability and empowering learners with the intellectual, creative, psychological and social skills required for an informed, fulfilled, confident, useful and caring adult life and worthy citizenship.”
We endeavour not to deviate from what our forefathers had envisaged when this school was opened in 1953.
